Start with three layers
Type describes the broad pattern used by the framework. Strategy suggests a way to engage with situations. Authority describes a decision process. Read these three together: a Type label by itself does not tell the whole story, and people with the same Type may have different Authorities.
Use Profile and Centers as context
Profile adds a learning and relationship lens. Colored Centers are called defined; white Centers are undefined. These labels describe themes within Human Design, not a measurement of your abilities. An undefined Center is not a defect, and a defined one is not an instruction to act the same way every time.
Try an ordinary example
Suppose you receive a non-urgent invitation. Record what you initially notice, read your Authority section, and choose a small way to explore the suggested process. Afterward, write what happened. Was the prompt useful, confusing, or irrelevant? All three answers are worth keeping.
Return to the details later
Gates and Channels can add language to a pattern you already noticed. Pick one from your own chart, read its explanation, and look for a concrete example. You do not need to make every interpretation fit. Your experience remains more useful than collecting labels.
